Description

Preventing Burnout of Health Professionals

Overview

There is increasing evidence on the benefits of incorporating self-care into the daily routines of health professionals. These practices are especially useful for avoiding the build-up of stress and the prevention of burn out. Good self-care practices should be modelled by experienced health professionals and taught to junior staff. However, despite most health professionals understanding the importance of self-care, most find it challenging to build into their daily lives.

Learning areas

This workshop aims to equip you with strategies that will:

  • Help in identifying the warning signs of stress and burnout
  • Provide ways to compartmentalise and establish limits between work and the rest of life
  • Develop protective practices
  • Promote emotional and physical health
  • Incorporate self-care techniques for managing stress

The education programs are facilitated by project officers in collaboration with expert palliative care clinical providers and health professionals. Tailored education to meet specific requirements is available as we continue to improve and develop our programs to meet the growing demand for palliative and supportive care education.
